St. Patrick’s Day Tournament (March 16th, 2020)
Great fit for St. Paddy’s Day is the next tournament in Golf Clash:
You can already practice the holes:
- Glenmonarch Estate will be available in the 6-Star Hotel and Origin Links Tours (Tour 4 and 12).
- Drumore Links will be available in the World Links and Voyager Tours (Tour 5 and 11).
But I also have, like every tournament, my text guides here as well 🙂
Drumore Links Hole #1 (Par 3)
Drive | ||
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Left; 2-3 Back | |
⛳️ Overadjust | 15% (Front Tee) 20% (Middle Tee) | |
? Ball | Marlin (Rookie/Pro) Katana (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Backbone, Goliath (Rookie/Pro) | Sniper (Pro/Expert) |
You want to use the right side of the fairway here and aim directly for the pin after you added the sidespin to the left, as you can see in the image.
This is actually a very easy hole in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament and getting a hole-in-one isn’t that hard if you can do the over-adjustment right for playing downhill here.
Drumore Links Hole #2 (Par 4)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Top | 4-5 Back |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 0% |
? Ball | Quasar (Rookie/Pro) Titan, Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro) Quarterback (Pro/Expert) | Thorn or Hornet (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
Normally playing your drive on the left-hand side is the better option because it’s less risky than the right side where you can easily fail and then screw up your whole attempt on this hole.
You want to do the drive with as much distance as possible and bounce over that rough line there and use all the topspin you have to get as far down the fairway to have an easy second shot where you can approach the pin directly.
Your second shot is also quite easy when you bring the Thorn to the party so you have the backspin that you don’t need to do a rough bounce here. Use about 4-5 backspin and then aim to bounce on the small fairway spot. With your second shot, there’s no elevation and therefore also no extra adjustment to wind and this can even get you into the hole in your second shot, but you will have the birdie here for sure in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament.
Drumore Links Hole #3 (Par 5)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | 2-3 Top | Max Right; 1-2 Top |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | -10% |
? Ball | Titan (Rookie/Pro), Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Big Dawg (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
Don’t do any fancy trick shots here, you want to get your ball as close to the rough here as possible and there’s no way you can get it over that without using heavy overpower (risky!).
The reason why you also don’t want to play the right side is that you would need a lot of curl and it’s less consistent than simply playing the straightforward route.
For the second shot you want to attempt the green and you need distance to do that, so take the wood with the highest distance (like The Big Dawg) to get this done.
Use all the sidespin to the right and a little topspin and make your second bounce on the fairway and this will get you on the green or very close to it so you have a great chance to get the eagle here. The albatross is extremely hard due to the lack of sidespin that you would need and curl is extremely risky here.
Still, quite an easy hole in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament 🙂
Glenmonarch Estate Hole #4 (Par 3)
Drive | ||
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | 1-2 Back | |
⛳️ Overadjust | 20% | |
? Ball | Marlin /Rookie/Pro), Quasar (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Viper(Rookie/Pro) | Sniper (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
This is another real easy Par 3 hole here in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament in Golf Clash that you can play really straight ahead. Make sure that your wood club is able to reach that distance (might not of you use the Sniper and you have it lower than Level 4) and aim for the rough spot to directly aim at the pin.
Now use a little backspin (1 bar unless there’s a straight tailwind, then use 2 bars). Don’t forget to adjust 20% extra as you play downhill 🙂
Glenmonarch Estate Hole #5 (Par 4)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Top; Max Right | – |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 0% |
? Ball | Quasar (Rookie/Pro), Titan or Katana (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Thorn or Hornet (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
In your drive you want to get as much distance as possible to get yourself into a good position for the second shot. Use all the topspin and the sidespin to the right with maximum distance to get as far down the fairway as possible.
Playing on the left side makes it a lot easier to approach the pin in your second shot and is a lot less risky to play.
In your second shot you now have the best chances to get the eagle here in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament and you normally don’t need any spin at all when you can bounce on the fairway in front of the green.
This normally give you the right speed to approach the pin but you might have to use a little backspin if you get short in the drive and have a longer shot towards the green here (but never more than 1 bar backspin).
Drumore Links Hole #6 (Par 5)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Top; Max Left | – |
⛳️ Overadjust | 20% | -10% |
? Ball | Titan (Rookie/Pro/Expert), Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro), Big Topper (Pro/Expert) | Viper, Goliath (Rookie/Pro), Sniper (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
I recommend you to play this one with a good ball to reduce crosswind and get the power needed. In your drive distance is everything but as you can see there’s the small spot of fairway where you could potentially get into the rough so reducing the wind with a ball like Titan makes it a lot easier.
Play your drive with maximum distance, maximum topspin and also maximum sidespin to the left to follow the route of the fairway and get as far down there as possible and don’t forget to adjust 20% extra for playing downhill.
If you did the drive right and have a wood club with a solid distance (Sniper Level 4+ or any other higher-level wood club), you can now approach the pin directly with a rough bump to go for the albatross.
If you can play it like you can see it in the image, you don’t need to add any spin to get the speed right but keep in mind that you play uphill so you need to adjust the position 10% less for the wind.
Glenmonarch Estate Hole #7 (Par 4)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Top; Max Left | – |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | -10% |
? Ball | Quasar (Rookie/Pro), Katana (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Thorn or Hornet (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
If you play your drive by bouncing over that bunker you can avoid using curl which can be squishy.
All you need to do is use max sidespin to the left and max topspin and use driver with a good distance and you can play this very save here and have great chances to get below par in this hole in the St. Patrick’s Tournament.
In your second shot you want to bounce on the fringe with no spin at all. The reason is that the fairway has some small bumpy spots that can mess up approaching the pin and I found that the fringe here is the most consistent way to approach the pin for the eagle.
Keep in mind that you need to adjust 10% less for the wind because you play uphill.
Glenmonarch Estate Hole #8 (Par 3)
Drive | ||
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | 2-3 Top | |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | |
? Ball | Marlin (Rookie/Pro), Quasar (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Viper, Big Dawg, Sniper (Rookie/Pro) | Sniper (Pro/Expert) |
The most important thing here is that you will need 2-3 bars of topspin to make it to the pin with the rough bounce. The bounce on the fairway is the best way to play this hole in my opinion because there are so many bumpy spots on the green.
Aiming is here key and you want to aim a little but right of the pin as the green slopes down to the left a little bit (see in the image) and have your yellow ring just at the border of the fringe.
Glenmonarch Estate Hole #9 (Par 5)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | – | Max Curl Right |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 0% |
? Ball | Titan (Rookie/Pro/Expert), Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert); | Big Dawg (Rookie/Pro/Expert), Thorn or Hornet (Pro/Expert) |
I wouldn’t recommend to go over the rough here in your drive because it requires you to use max overpower and you need tailwind for that.
Rather play it conservatively and lay up before the rough and play it from there.
For your second shot you will need the distance and your goal is to get on the fairway as close to the green as possible to get a nice shot at the pin in your third shot. This is not the hole that will get you much below par in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament so play it for the secure birdie.
You also need to use max curl to the right with this shot without adding and spin.
From here you can then approach the pin in your third shot.
Good luck in the St. Patrick’s Day Tournament and also a happy St. Paddy’s Day 🙂
