3rd Anniversary Tournament (January 20th, 2020)

Hard to believe that Golf Clash already is 3 years out, how fast time went by, right? To celebrate this we will have the 3rd Anniversary Tournament coming up next showcasing the best tours of the past anniversaries.

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament holes overview

Starting today you can practice them in Tour 4/5/6 or 9/11/12 with your desired starting tee.

But without more chit-chat. let’s dive directly into the text guides how to play all the holes in the best way πŸ™‚

Southern Pines – Hole #1 (Par 3)

We’ve seen this hole a couple of times in other tournaments and you might recall it right, a hole-in-one is a gamble at this hole in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament.

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 1 southern pines shotYou will need to make the ball roll back plus add curl so there’s no way to give you a perfect shot instruction in my text guide at all – but I can give you the best way to play this hole.

So, you want to make it bounce on the fairway and add as much sidespin to the right as you can get (try to use a ball like Katana with Side Spin III). There’s no need to add any backspin or front spin, the sidespin is enough.

When doing your shot you will use something around 50% curl to the right as well and this will land you next to the pin or maybe the hole-in-one with some luck πŸ™‚

Southern Pines – Hole #2 (Par 4)

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 2 southern pines driveIn this hole in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament you really want to get over to the right lane, no matter what the wind is doing. This will make your second shot a lot better and you don’t need to make a tricky rough bounce or anything later.

So, add all the topspin and sidespin to the right that you can get and bounce over that rough part like you can see it in the image. Also make sure to use a ball like the Titan to get additional power, with a normal ball you need to take the left lane.

If there’s additional wind from the right you want to use curl to the right to adjust for that as well, jsut make sure you don’t get stuck in that bunker!

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 2 southern pines second shotNow you can approach the pin directly and I would use about 3 bars of backspin and all the sidespin to the left to compensate for the sloping green so you can compensate the first bounce.

In terms of aiming you should bounce the ball so the second bounce is on the green and directly aims at the pin.

With the backspin that I recommended you won’t get too hot and if you don’t get the eagle you will still have a birdie for sure πŸ™‚

Southern Pines – Hole #3 (Par 5)

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 3 southern pines driveThis hole in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament is all about distance and if you manage to gain enough distance in your drive you will have your eagle safe.

So, you will choose the driver with the highest distance and topspin and also use a ball that gives you power and bounce over the bunker and add all the topspin that you can.

You need to get to about the same height as the trees there so you will be able to get on the green in your second shot.

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 3 southern pines second shotIn your second shot you also have a tricky shot but this will get you on the green if you don’t mess up.

Add all the topspin and sidespin to the right and aim so you will make your first bounce on the fairway and the second one in the rough.

The plan here is to make it roll out of the rough and either get on the green, the fringe or really close to it so you can get your eagle in the next shot. Albatross is extremely difficult here so focus on getting close to the green and the pin.

Porthello Cove – Hole #4 (Par 3)

This is another tough Par-3 in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament and I personally am no friend of using the rough bump here on this hole because it’s just a small strip and too risky to do it.

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 4 porthello cove shotOn the other side the fairway where you need to bounce is also inconsistent and you can’t sure that you will get a stright line towards the pin. Still, it’s the better option here to take the birdie than nothing, right?

So, aim like you can see it in the image and use 3-4 bars of backspin along with all the sidespin to the right that you can get.

Don’t add any curl but you will play downhill here so do about 10% extra adjustment to the wind here.

Porthello Cove – Hole #5 (Par 4)

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 5 porthello cove driveThe make-or-break in this hole is again the drive where we need as much distance as possible to make the eagle happen.

You take the driver with the most distance, take a decent ball with al least Power II and use all the topspin you have to bounce it over the water so you can attempt the pin in your second shot directly.

depending on the wind you might even need to overpower your shot a little bit to get on that second island, but that’s the only way to get below par on this hole in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament.

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 5 porthello cove second shotIn your second shot you have quite a difficult one as you need to do an steep uphill rough bounce.

So, what you want to do here is using about 4 bars of topspin to give the ball enough speed to make it on the green and be very careful about the wind adjustment you’re making here, the ball will come a little shorter than you think.

Porthello Cove – Hole #6 (Par 5)

This Par-5 hole in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament is one that you should aim for the eagle in. The eagle is absolutely possible here without much luck so don’t stretch your luck to try the albatross or you might fail miserably…

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 6 porthello cove driveSo, what we need is at least a Power III ball (like Titan) and also a wood club with a lot of distance for our second shot (e.g. Big Dawg). That’s mandatory for the eagle in this hole!

Your drive should be on the left lane although the right lane might look tempting – it will just give you a really tough drive to play. So rather take the left lane and go for the eagle.

Jump it over the bunker there with max sidespin to the right as well as 4-5 bars of topspin to get far down the green (without rolling into the bunker there).

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 6 porthello cove second shotFrom here you want to get as close as possible to the green. It’s so much distance so play close attention to your adjustment. Use max sidespin to the right and max topspin and also all the curl to the right that you have to send your ball towards the green on the fairway.

I know this looks a little weird but you can actually play this one consistently that way πŸ™‚

Drumore Links – Hole #7 (Par 3)

This was actually one of the weirdest Par-3 holes released last year, so in my opinion it really earned a place here in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament πŸ˜€

You notice that every tee as a different angle towards the green so every tee comes in at a different angle, but that only affects the point where you land and the PRO+ division have a smaller part of fairway to bounce on. Always aim directly for the pin like shown below πŸ™‚

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 7 rookie

Take note to over-adjust wind by 20% because you play massively downhill here!

Play this pretty straight forward with 2 bars of sidespin to the left and about 1-2 bars of topspin (depending on the wind).

You want to bounce it at the end of the fairway so you reach over the bunker and then bounce a second time on the other side on the fairway.

This makes the ball roll straight towards the pin with the right speed (if you don’t mess up wind adjustment!)

Drumore Links – Hole #8 (Par 4)

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 7 driveI recommend you to play this one on the right side with max sidespin to the right and 5-8 bars of topspin on your drive.

The drive here isn’t that spectacular after all and should get you as far as possible without risking to roll into the rough.

I like to jump it over the bunker, like shown in the image, because it doesn’t require using curl and I can still get into a position that will give me a nice spot for my second shot approaching the pin directly or landing safely on the green.

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 7 second shotYour second shot should approach the pin directly but there’s a catch – you will need either a club with a ton of backspin or you will need to do a rough bump.

If you have the Thorn use the backspin and play it like you can see it in the image.

If you need to do a rough bump make sure to use some bars of topspin to make sure that the ball rolls out of the rough and has enough speed to actually reach the pin.

Drumore Links – Hole #9 (Par 5)

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 9 driveWelcome to the last hole in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament πŸ™‚

So, the best way to play this hole is to get on that small strip of fairway on the right side because that gives us a huge shortcut towards the green.

Use all the sidespin to the right and about 4 bars of backspin to make sure the ball gets close to the rough line but not into the rough!

Also use some curl to the right when you hit the perfect shot πŸ™‚

golf clash 3rd anniversary tournament hole 9 second shotFor your second shot you need all the tospin you have and there’s not too much topspin here.

If you have no tailwind you probably won’t reach the green or at least the pin but you will get close enough to make that eagle in your third hit πŸ™‚

Good luck in the 3rd Anniversary Tournament πŸ™‚
