Pacific Cup Tournament (January 6th, 2020)
We’re starting the new year off with a fresh tournament in Golf Clash and it’s the Pacific Cup Torunament featuring holes from 4 different courses.
You can already find them in:
- Juniper Point is available in the West Coast and U.S. Champions Tours (Tours 2 and 6).
- Koh Hong Resort is available in the Tropic Kings Tour (Tour 7).
- Maple Bay is available in the Voyager and World Links Tours (Tours 5 and 11).
- Gokasho Bay is available in the Club Oceania Tour (Tours 5 and 10).
But to give you some extra help here are my text guides as you can find them for every tournament 🙂
Juniper Point – Hole #1 (Par 4)
The first hole in the Pacific Cup Tournament is an excellent way to kick off this tournament with an eagle by getting on the green in your first shot.
To do so you will need to bounce you shot over the bunker and bounce it on the second small fairway island on the left side of the course.
You want to use max sidespin to the right (because the fairway will kick the ball to the left) as well as 7 bars of topspin (eventually by using a very good ball in Rookie Division) to make that happen.
You will also need to over adjust because you play downhill, I’d say about 15%. If you don’t use a Power V ball, especially in Rookie Division, you will also need to use a little bit of overpower, so I heavily recommend you to invest here in a ball like the Berserker.
Koh Hong Resort – Hole #2 (Par 5)
Here we go with another relatively easy hole in the Pacific Cup Tournament where you can get on the green in your second shot.
You want to use a Power III ball to have the distance you need in your second shot.
So, in your first shot you always want to go with the right side because the left side will put you in a position where you need to face a lot of trees.
You main objective is only to bounce over to the second fairway section and get as far down there as possible by using all the topspin and all the sidespin to the left that you have. Make sure you over adjust a little bit because you also play downhill in your drive.
In your second shot, it’s time to approach the pin directly with a decent chance to even get the albatross. You want to use about 3 bars of front spin and aim in a way that will allow your ball to make the second bounce on the fairway in front of the green.
Along with the front spin this will be the speed you need to either get it in the hole or at least really close to the pin and get your secure eagle here.
Koh Hong Resort – Hole #3 (Par 3)
The ugly part about this Par 3 here in the Pacific Cup Tournament is the fact that you need to over-adjust 20% because you play massively downhill.
You will need at least 4 bars of backspin (ROOKIE) or 6-7 bars (PRO & EXPERT) or you will come in way too hot on this one!
You should aim at the fairway position that slopes down because this will make the ball bounce less and from here you can aim directly for the pin – but don’t forget to add 20% extra to your wind adjustment or you can ruin your shot.
Maple Bay – Hole #4 (Par 4)
In your drive you want to get as far as possible and to do that you will need to bounce over one of the bunkers. In the image below you see the ROOKIE version on the left side and the PRO/EXPERT version in the right side.
You should use a Power III ball here to make that happen but you can also use a standard ball but this will make your second shot a little bit harder and you can’t bounce over the bunker properly.
Only use a little topspin here (about 1 bar) and about 3 bars of sidespin to the right to keep your ball on the fairway.
In your second shot you can approach the pin directly but you will need a short iron with a good amount of backspin, like the Thorn.
If you don’t have that option and your club only has like 3-4 bars of backspin you need to become creative and might to bounce it twice on the fairway with a little bit of topspin.
Keep in mind to over-adjust by about 10% on all your shots at this hole in the Pacific Cup Tournament!
Maple Bay – Hole #5 (Par 3)
This is also a tricky shot like the other Par 3 in the Pacific Cup Tournament because you need to play it massively downhill and you need to adjust 30% extra because of that.
The shot itself will be aimed towards the pin with about 3 bars of backspin and the sidespin to the right that you need to aim for the pin – normally also about 3 bars.
The second bounce should be on the green and this will give you, along with the backspin mentioned above, the right amount of speed when approaching the pin.
Gokasho Bay – Hole #6 (Par 5)
You want to play your drive with a Power I Ball (Rookie) or Power II Ball (Pro&Expert). You want to use maximum sidespin to the left as well as maximum front spin to get as far down the fairway as you can to get a proper position for your second shot.
This is important and the distance here is vital to prevent you getting stuck in between clubs!
For your second shot you’re now forced to do a sand bump or a rough bump, unless you did pull off a crazy long drive in your first shot.
It’s not that bad and you have a decent chance to approach the pin and getting your albatross but make sure that you are good with your wind adjustment or you might send your ball either into the water, make it stick in the sand or maybe even just go over the island and sink your shot! No need to adjust any extra for elevation in your second shot.
Gokasho Bay – Hole #7 (Par 4)
The drive for this hole in the Pacific Cup Tournament is fairly easy and can be done with any ball (except the standard one because you need sidespin).
Simply aim to bounce over the bunker and add 4-5 bars of topspin along with all the sidespin to the right that you have and do your perfect shot. This will land you in the best position to approach the pin in your second shot.
For your second shot, you should approach the pin directly and feel secure about the amount of backspin you should use.
When bouncing the fairway you should be fine using around 2-3 bars of backspin (maybe one bar extra in case of heavy tailwind) and adjust the sidespin so you will aim straight for the pin.
This should give you a decent chance for an eagle or at least the secure birdie.
Juniper Point – Hole #8 (Par 3)
This Par 3 will make you feel more uncomfortable that it actually is because the green is elevated and you need to bounce the ball uphill.
Aim straight for the pin and aim your second bounce to be on the green, paired with 1-2 bars of topspin.
You can use some slight sidespin as well to adjust the ball guideline.
This will give you the best speed and also the birdie if you miss the pin and land on the green, it won’t slope down.
Maple Bay – Hole #9 (Par 5)
You really want to play this one on the right side and use a Titan Ball here to get the extra power you need.
The drive is a little bit tricky because you want to use a double bounce to get over the rough, this only requires you some overpowering – if you want to do it with one single bounce you need max overpower and we all know how risky that can be 🙂
When approaching the pin you want to use about 3 bars of topspin along with some serious sidespin to the left to adjust with how the ground is shaped around the green.
That’s it, good luck with this tournament and see you on the green 🙂
