Ventura Open Tournament (April 13th, 2020)
After the 9-hole cup for easter we now have, back in the regular tournament schedule, a normal 18 hole tournament called the Ventura Open with all holes of Santa Ventura.
Without wasting any more time, let’s jump right into the text guides for the Ventura Open Tournament.

Santa Ventura Hole #1 (Par 4)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | 3-4 Top; Max Right & Little Curl | |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 0% |
? Ball | Quasar (Rookie), Katana (Pro/Expert), Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert), Quarterback (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Hornet (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
You want to use a ball with good sidespin for your drive to get it rolling in the right direction and this will not only get your further down the fairway, it will also get you closer towards the pin for your second shot so don’t be cheap with the ball here in the first hole of the Ventura Open Tournament.
Other than that, put in some good topspin to get as far as possible without risking getting into the rough and you’re good to go for your second shot. You can also add a little curl to the right.
[adinserter block=”2″]
If you reached far enough down the fairway you’re in a great position to actually approach the pin directly in your second shot and if you have the right short iron you have a decent chance for the eagle here.
I really recommend not to go with backspin here because the green is not even and rather bounce it on the fairway in front of the green and let it roll towards the pin without adding any spin. You still can miss but, in my opinion, chances are a lot better this way.

↩️ Spin | 4-5 Back | |
⛳️ Overadjust | 20% | |
? Ball | Marlin (Rookie), Quasar (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Backbone (Rookie) | Sniper (Pro/Expert), Guardian (Pro/Expert) |
You need a decent amount of backspin for this Par 3 in the Ventura Open Tournament so take the right club here or you might come in too hot and if you miss the pin you have an unnecessary second shot from maybe the fringe or fairway behind the pin.
If you don’t have that you can also bounce the ball on the fairway but that’s not that even so you might miss here.
The shot itself is really straightforward by bouncing on the fringe and let the ball guideline direct right towards the pin and add the backspin and you’ll be fine.

Santa Ventura Hole #3 (Par 5)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | 2-5 Top; Max Left | |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 0% |
? Ball | Quasar (Rookie), Titan (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Goliath (Rookie/Pro/Expert) Sniper (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
For the drive you should use a ball with a good amount of sidespin so you can get around that corner on the fairway and reach further down without having to use much curl.
If you do have at least 4 bars of sidespin you don’t need any curl and you can simply add in more topspin to gain more distance with your drive here – and gaining that distance will help you a lot reaching the green in your second shot.
[adinserter block=”4″]
In your second shot you can theoretically go for the albatross but it’s really hard as the green and the fairway are anything but even at this area, but you can get close towards the pin for the secure eagle here on this Par 5 in the Ventura Open Tournament.
Using a wood here with a good ball guideline helps a lot and you don’t need any spin with this shot as long as you make sure that your second bounce will on the fairway right in front of the fringe.

This is a fairly easy Par 3 here in the Venture Open Tournament and you should use the long iron with the best accuracy you have to get the best chances for the hole-in-one.
You want to bounce over the bunker here so you will need a little topspin to make the ball bounce that far and with the green elevating as well you should have that little extra power here. Another aspect is that if you have no topspin you could roll back and have an ugly second shot and that’s not what you want, right?
So, then aim directly for the pin and do a perfect shot.
Santa Ventura Hole #5 (Par 5)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Top; Max Left + Max Curl Left | Max Right |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 0% |
? Ball | Titan (Rookie/Pro/Expert), Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Big Dawg (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
The drive here can be tricky if you haven’t levels up your driver decently because you might be too short and need to overpower your drive. It’s important that you use a Power III ball to reach far enough down on the fairway but also for your second shot to get on the green.
If you can’t reach over the river with your drive, bounce on the fairway in front of it and add as much sidespin to the left and topspin as you can and add max curl to the left as well.
You need to avoid to get close to the other side of the fairway or the trees will be in your way and you can’t reach the green in your second shot so pay close attention to that and if you don’t have the sidespin and curl on your driver, rather think about going a little shorter with topspin.
[adinserter block=”6″]
With your second shot you want to get on the green and as close towards the pin as possible so use a wood club with good distance and add all the sidespin to the right to get in the direction of the pin. There’s no need to use topspin here (unless you got really short with your drive) or you will risk getting over the green. The green slopes down towards the pin so getting on the green will get you in the right speed automatically.

This Par 3 here in the Ventura Open Tournament is really interesting as you can reach the green with your drive when you’re able to use a Power III ball.
[adinserter block=”7″]
You will use the left fairway spot between the trees to directly bounce on the green and the backspin will help you to stay on the green and not to roll into the rough on the other side of the green.
I highly recommend you to practice this shot before the tournament or before doing in in the tournament to make sure you don’t do this the first time here.
But that’s a great way for a secure eagle here at this Par 4.
Santa Ventura Hole #7 (Par 3)

? Ball | Quasar (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Backbone (Rookie) | Sniper (Pro/Expert) |
You can’t really expect to get the hole-in-one here in this Par 3 in the Ventura Open Tournament unless you’re really lucky to adjust the wind just right.
You need to use a little backspin and aim directly for the pin via the small fairway spot on the right side and I also find it helpful to use a ball that reduces wind a little bit, but that’s optional.

Santa Ventura Hole #8 (Par 4)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | Max Right | 1-2 Back |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | 10% |
? Ball | Titan (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Backbone (Rookie), Goliath (Pro/Expert) |
Play this hole on the right side and with a good amount of sidespin you can directly go down the fairway spot there to get a nice spot for your second shot, no need to add any topspin or backspin.
The fairway slopes up a little bit so you won’t get too far unless you add topspin.
[adinserter block=”9″]
With your second shot you can directly approach the pin now and even though it’s hard it’s possible to get the eagle here.
You want to use a little backspin and make the second bounce here be on the fringe, this will give us the right amount of speed and you have the birdie secured in the worst-case.
It’s a Par 4 where you can catch up with the score here in the Ventura Open Tournament as many do play it on the left side.
Santa Ventura Hole #9 (Par 5)
Drive | 2nd Shot | |
---|---|---|
↩️ Spin | 3-4 Top; Max Left; Max Curl Left | 3-4 Back; 2-3 Left; 50% Curl Left |
⛳️ Overadjust | 10% | -10% |
? Ball | Titan (Rookie/Pro/Expert), Kingmaker (Pro/Expert) | |
? Club(s) | Extra Mile (Rookie), Quarterback (Rookie/Pro/Expert) | Big Dawg (Rookie/Pro/Expert) |
For the drive here it helps a lot to have a driver with curl so take one like the Quarterback if you have it at a decent level to get the ball into the top left corner.
You can see in the image your aiming position how it should look like when you can use a good amount of curl – otherwise, you should use some backspin to not get into the rough island there.
This is a really tricky spot but gaining the distance here helps a lot for the second shot.
[adinserter block=”10″]
For your second shot you will need to curl around the trees so take a wood club with a good amount of curl here as well.
Your goal here should be to get the ball on the green and not approaching the pin, that would be such a hero shot and you should rather take the secure eagle instead of messing here.
That’s it, good luck with the Ventura Open Tournament and have a great day 🙂
